Beginner Knitting Series: Knitting in the Round
Learn to knit in the round by knitting a hat.
You will start out knitting the bottom part of the hat using a 16" circular needle. When you start to shape the crown, you will be decreasing the number of stitches and the circular needle will be too large. At that point you will move the stitches to a set of DPNs (double-pointed needles) and finish the crown.
In the class you will start knitting the hat on the circular needles and the instructor will give you a demonstration of how to change to the double-pointed needles. If you wish, you can come in to the shop for additional assistance when you are ready to move to the DPNs.
You will need the following materials:
- US #8 16-inch circular needle
- US #8 set of DPNs
- Approximately 135 yards of worsted weight yarn.
- A removable stitch marker.
- Skill Set: Beginning Knitting book.
Kits for this class will be available shortly.
